When discussing vodka, people usually think of groups of men with big moustaches who obviously live in very cold weather, where they perform a most peculiar dance.
Yet vodka originated in Poland, where obviously a bunch of very intelligent people met regularily at Lemberg's Scottish Café (Kawiarnia Szkocka) to discuss complex problems, and offer prizes for solving those - usually, for big problems, a high-quality spirit.
This is decidcated to Stefan Banach, his work and his idea for combining mathematics with (vodka) drinking.
(Musically, the idea was to have a post-bop jazz quartet travelling through time, losing the guitarist and drummer on the way, and landing a gig at that Café. I wanted to make the thing sound somewhat Slavic by using phrygian/locrian tonality, but failed doing so. Also, I would like to have recorded this with an actual duo or even actual quartet).
