In the context of "Zones Month", this week was about a #ChallengeZone.
So what is a challenge for me? Very simple music. Instruments I have but can't play. Oldskool production approach.
I opted for a composition to not include more than four chords, nor modulation, strict 4/4 metre, and soprano recorder and acoustic guitar as the only instruments.
Tracking was limited to three tracks (bass part of the guitar, chord part of the guitar, on separate tracks because I can't play the guitar, and lead voice on soprano recorder, which...you've guessed it by now). To make matters worse, I didn't allow for retakes, punchins and the like.
The rest: hardware, mostly analogue signal chain. Reverb from an Eclipse, 2bus through Xfilter, everything else is the console. The MPC as the only modern thingie was really only used as a simple multi-track recorder, because I was too lazy to bring up the Tascam 238S from the basement.
With that being said: simple enough. It was a challenge.
